What is Calligraphy?
- Means "Beautiful Writing" in Greek
- Very similar to cursive, but much fancier, uses different tools, and was invented earlier
- It's positive and flowing nature make it appeal to the senses
- You start out the same way you start out painting
- Usually a very serious art format
- Western Calligraphy was formatted in the Wild West
- You need a Calligraphy fountain pen, ruler, ink, a kneaded eraser, tape, a writing board, and thick paper
- The pen positioning affects the shape and changes what kind of marks you can make on the paper
- How think or thin your writing is depends on the angles of the pen, and the size nib you use
- A nib is the attachment that you put onto a Calligraphy Fountain Pen to be able to write with the ink
